Gallatin Man Fights To Get Pet Raccoon Back

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A household pet has landed a Gallatin man in trouble after posting videos on YouTube that went viral, but this isn't your ordinary dog or cat -- it's a raccoon.

Mark Brown took in the raccoon after he said it was going to be killed after the racoon went after chickens at a local high school.

Since then, Brown posted YouTube videos of him playing with the raccoon, and even showering with it.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency paid Brown a visit, taking the raccoon -- named Rebekah – away, saying it's illegal to keep a wild animal as a pet.

Brown is now appealing directly to Governor Haslam to give him a permit to keep his raccoon.

The TWRA said they received a complaint from a neighbor about the raccoon, which prompted them to take it away.  They said it was not the YouTube videos that prompted it.

The TWRA said Brown endangered himself and the raccoon by keeping it in his house.
