Man Who Drove Into House Faces Reckless Driving Charges

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The man accused of crashing a rental car into a home in Clarksville on Monday, causing foundation damage, has been taken into custody.

Clarksville Police arrested John Ward around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at a hotel in Clarksville. He will be charged with reckless driving in connection with crashing the Ford SUV into the home on Twelve Oaks Boulevard around 12:45 p.m. Monday.

The home suffered possible foundation damage.

The owner of the home said police told him a medical issue may be the cause behind Ward's crashes.

Police said Ward was also the man behind the wheel in a crash at a gas station on July 4 that left a man with third degree burns.

Ward allegedly crossed oncoming traffic in a Lincoln MKZ and hit the gas pump at the Exxon on Riverside Drive. That caused an explosion which left the man critically injured.

The Clarksville Police Department said it's working with the state to get Ward retested to see if he can keep his driver's license.
