NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A truck driver accused of killing a man inside a Nashville motel in May has been brought back to Nashville from Texas.

Metro Nashville Police said 32-year-old Eric Lozano, of Lyford, Texas, was held in the Metropolitan Jail without bond pending a hearing next Tuesday.

Police said the over-the-road truck driver killed Mitchel T. Moreno at the Cumberland Inn on West Trinity Lane on May 9. The 52-year-old was found deceased inside his motel room from blunt force trauma during an apparent struggle.

Officers used surveillance video from the motel and a nearby truck stop to identify Lozano as the killer.

Lozano was arrested just north of McAllen, Texas on May 20 by Deputy U.S. Marshals and Texas State troopers. He declined to waive extradition and was brought to Nashville Wednesday night.
