NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Former Tennessee Titans Keith Bulluck was arrested overnight after an apparent altercation with a taxi driver. Bulluck played linebacker in Nashville for 10 years.

Police said they got a call around 2:50 a.m. Sunday that the taxi driver was having an argument with someone in his cab in front of Blue Gene's at 1715 Church Street.

The driver, Habib Hashi, was waiting on a fare who had already paid when officials said he was approached for a ride by a suspect identified as Bulluck.

When Hashi told Bulluck he already had a fare, the former Titan allegedly became enraged, grabbed Hashi and took a $100 bill from his hand.  Bulluck then fled the scene, an affidavit said.

Police located Bullock across the street. It was then that the driver identified him as the suspect.

Officials said Hashi wanted to prosecute, so Bullock was charged with class C felony robbery.

Bulluck, who smelled of alcohol, was taken into custody. He was booked into jail around 4:30 a.m. He later posted bond and been released.

NewsChannel 5 reporter Deja Knight was there when Bulluck left the jail.

"I've been here for 10 years and this is what you want to talk about?" said Bulluck, while declining to explain exactly what happened.

Sunday Bulluck released the following statement to The Tennessean:

"I was out with friends last night in Nashville and was taking a cab home. There was a misunderstanding between me and the cab driver about getting my money back for a service not rendered. At 2 a.m., things could easily get lost in translation, but regardless of who was right or wrong, I regret putting myself in that situation."

Hashi was involved in a similar incident with state Senator Ophelia Ford in 2007. He spoke to NewsChannel 5 without revealing his identity at the time and accused Ford of being drunk, ripping his shirt and cussing at him.

"Yeah it was scary, she grabbed me by the shirt and choked me," Hashi said then.

Hashi declined to comment about this incident early Sunday morning. Davidson County Court records show he was convicted for filing a false accident report in 1999.

His former employer the Yellow Cab company reportedly fired him two years ago for being a "compulsive liar."

Bulluck was part of the broadcast crew for the Titans preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons Saturday night. Officials with the Titans Network show and Nashville TV station WKRN wouldn't comment if Sunday's incident would keep Bulluck off the final Titans preseason broadcast Thursday.

Bulluck retired from football in 2012 after playing 11 seasons in the NFL, 10 of them with the Titans.
