NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A program designed to get fresh fruits and vegetables into the hands of more Nashvillians has grown in popularity over the past couple weeks.

The Double SNAP program has taken place outside the Piggly Wiggly market on Dickerson Pike.

The group "Healthy, Wealthy, Wise" has put up a stand outside the market, where people on food stamps can get free fruits and vegetables.

The program has proven popular, seeing more people show up as the month continues.

"We've given away $2,000 worth of food, which we're really excited about, we got a lot of fresh local food pumped into this community," said Adam Curtis with Healthy, Wealthy, Wise.

The program is scheduled to end next Sunday at the Piggly Wiggly on Dickerson Pike, but the folks at Healthy, Wealthy, Wise said they think they may have enough money to continue the program through September.
