BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP/NewsChannel 5) - Bowling Green police have arrested a man and charged him with murder and robbery in a fatal holdup at a pizza restaurant.

Officers were called to the Bowling Green store located at 2201 Stonehenge Avenue early Monday morning.

When officer arrived, they found 51-year-old Harold Dean Johnson fatally shot outside the restaurant in the parking lot. Johnson was employed by Domino's Pizza, but at a different store.

Police said the shooting occurred as the result of an attempted armed robbery after the facility closed.

There were others inside the building at the time, but no one else was injured. Employees told police the suspect entered the store and demanded money.

Shortly after the incident, the Bowling Green Police Department came into contact with 20-year-old John Paul Shobe while searching the area for the suspect involved. After a brief chase on foot, Shobe was taken into custody and charged with giving officers a false name and fleeing and evading on foot.

Police found evidence connecting Shobe to the crime after a search of his apartment on Rock Creek Road. Shobe was charged for the homicide of Johnson as well as the robbery of Domino's Pizza.

Shobe was being held in the Warren County Regional Jail. The investigation was ongoing.
