COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - A homicide suspect wanted in Kentucky was arrested in a Cookeville motel room on Friday.

Detectives with the Cookeville Police Department said they received information that Demarcus Hamilton, of Monroe County Kentucky, was staying at the hotel with his wife and children.

Investigators said Kentucky State Police had been searching for Hamilton after conducting a homicide investigation earlier in the day. They said an arrest warrant was obtained after surveillance video of the motel room was initiated.

Hamilton was taken into custody in the motel room.

Hamilton was charged with murder in Kentucky. He was also charged with being a fugitive from justice in Tennessee.

He was held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
