Disaster Declaration For Counties Affected By Flash Flooding

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Governor Bill Haslam announced Monday that a disaster declaration has been granted for those who were impacted by flash flooding earlier this month.

Residents and businesses that were affected in Davidson, Cheatham, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson Counties are eligible for low-interest loans. They have until October 25, 2013 to apply for physical damage and until May 26, 2014 to apply for relief from economic injury.

A damage survey by TEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration showed more than 190 homes and 46 businesses in Davidson County sustained damage in the flooding on August 8.

Some areas saw up to 10 inches of rain in just a few hours, and rescue crews performed nearly 200 water rescues after flash flooding.
