FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Two people died in a Lincoln County crash involving a commercial vehicle and a passenger car on Huntsville Highway Tuesday.

The wreck happened around 3 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Huntsville Highway near Ardmore Highway.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the driver in a 2005 Ford 500 was pulling out of a parking lot on Highway 231 into the southbound lanes and pulled out into the path of a tractor trailer. Both the driver, 27-year-old Carl Albert Bauer, and the passenger, 33-year-old Frances Bate Bauer, died in the crash. Both were from Alabama.

The driver of the truck, Steven Vest, was not injured in the crash. Vest will not be charged.

The roadway was closed for several hours as officers worked to clear the scene.
