Five People Charged In South Nashville Murder

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Five people were arrested Saturday and charged with murder in connection to the early morning shooting in South Nashville.

21-year-old Anastacio Lopez Taperia was fatally shot shortly after midnight Saturday in the parking lot of an apartment complex during an apparent planned robbery attempt.

Police arrested Candice Young, 23, Robin Griggs, 33, Derek Lance, 29, Stanley Hawkins, 26, and Ronnie Palmer, 32.

According to investigators, Taperia and two friends were at a bar on Apache Trail, where they met two women – Young and Griggs. Taperia, his friends and the two women left the bar and headed to Horizon Park Apartments at 4601 Packard Drive.

When the three men got out of their car at the apartment complex, defendants Lance, Hawkins and Palmer allegedly came out of nowhere to rob the victims. During the robbery, Taperia was fatally shot by Lance, police said. Taperia was then driven away by his friends to a parking lot on Murfreesboro Pike.

Detectives believe the five charged had preplanned the robbery scenario, with the two women meeting potential victims at the bar and then luring them to the apartments where the others confronted them.

Lance is being held in lieu of $2 million bond. The other four defendants are being held on a $1.5 million bond.
