Early Morning Drug Deal Results In Shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Police responded to a shooting Tuesday morning at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Winfrey Street.

Detectives with the Nashville Police Department said the shootout was a result of an alleged drug deal involving three men. The victim admitted to police he went to the location to purchase drugs from the suspects.

Police said the victim attempted to flee the scene after an argument broke out with the two other men. The two suspects reportedly shot at his vehicle multiple times during the confrontation. Several rounds pierced the passenger side door and bumper.

The shooting occurred one block from Napier Elementary School. Police have been surveying the area to ensure no civilians were harmed.

The two suspects were taken into custody. The driver was not harmed during the shooting.
