Former Pastor Charged With Burglary, Theft

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A former pastor was arrested for the second time after police said he broke into a church member's home in search of drugs.

Rickey Reed was charged with felony aggravated burglary and theft.

One of Reed's former church members said she caught him breaking into her Antioch home last month, where she said he tried to steal her pain medication.

Reed served as pastor of First Free Methodist Church in Smyrna until his first arrest in 2011.

A congregation member who suspected Reed had been breaking into her home and stealing her pain pills set up a hidden camera, and caught him in the act.

He avoided jail time in that case, and was sentenced to four years diversion.
