Crash Causes Traffic Delays In I-24 Near Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Westbound lanes of Interstate 24 were closed after a multiple-vehicle crash in Rutherford County.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday at mile marker 74, just passed the Highway 840 interchange near Murfreesboro. At least three vehicles were involved.

Details about the cause of the crash were not available.

Several troopers from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

It was not clear if there were any injuries.

Westbound lanes were closed for nearly two hours while emergency crews worked at the scene and wreckers pulled the wreckage out of the roadway. Traffic was backed up to the Highway 840 interchange.

Lanes were reopened around 4:30 p.m.
