Homeowner Suffers Minor Burns In Smyrna Fire

Posted: Updated:

SMYRNA, Tenn. – A homeowner suffered minor burns during a fire at a Smyrna home on Thursday morning.

The fire broke out in the garage of the home on Merlot Drive in the Vineyard subdivision just before 5:30 a.m. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control quickly, but at least one car inside the garage was destroyed.

"We're believing that the fire started in the detached garage and moved to the main home," said Smyrna Fire Chief Bill Culbertson.

The homeowner was treated on the scene for minor burns to his hands.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
