Woman Credited For Quick Action During House Fire

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A quick acting homeowner was able to get herself and two pets out of her burning home in Nashville overnight.

Flames were shooting through the roof of the home on 7th Avenue North when the first firefighters got on the scene around midnight.

They were able to get it under control quickly, without any injuries.

Officials credited the homeowner for acting fast and calling authorities.

"She said she heard a popping noise, went outside, and she could see flames coming through the roof. And that's when she dialed 911," said Nashville Fire District Chief Chuck Hoover.

The fire damaged one bedroom, the attic and the roof. The home was uninhabitable, so the owner found a place to stay.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, but officials said it did not appear suspicious.
