NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man released from prison only days ago was taken back into custody on charges of carjacking and resisting police.

Police said 28-year-old Christopher Maurice Lewis confronted a 60-year-old east Nashville woman inside her car around 6:45 p.m. Thursday as she got ready to leave the CVS pharmacy on Gallatin Pike.

The victim told police the gunman pulled her from her car and drove off. She was not seriously hurt.

Undercover officers found the car backed into a parking lot near Dickerson Pike and Ewing Lane around 9:25 p.m. Thursday. A man matching the description of the carjacker was seen behind the wheel, and officers took him into custody.

They also found a silver toy gun in the car.

During an interview, police said Lewis admitted to the carjacking and said that he was looking for someone else to rob at the time of his arrest.

Lewis was released from prison on August 25. He was convicted in July 2005 on four counts of facilitation of aggravated robbery for which he received four six-year sentences. He was also convicted on two counts of aggravated assault for which he received two four-year sentences.

Lewis was held in the Metro Jail in lieu of $160,000 bond.
