Crews Recover Body Of Boater On Center Hill Lake

SILVER POINT, Tenn. – Dive teams have recovered the body of a boater who disappeared on Center Hill Lake in DeKalb County over the weekend.

Officials from the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency said 27-year-old William Bates from Tullahoma went into the water near the Floating Mill campgrounds around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

WKLE radio reported Bates was with five other men on a pontoon boat when he jumped in the water and never resurfaced. The incident happened hear the Floating Mill Park campgrounds.

Crews from the TWRA, DeKalb County Sheriff's Office rescue squad and Army Corps of Engineers were called in to air with the search. 

Bates' body was found Sunday afternoon about a mile away in 90 feet of water.
