MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A brazen crime at a Murfreesboro music store has investigators on alert.

The theft happened on Monday afternoon just before 1:00 p.m. when a man pretending to be a customer walked into The Music Stop.

Police said the thief stole two bank deposit bags from the store, which is estimated to have up to $50,000 worth of checks and cash.

"This is a small business, and I'm a self-proprietor and this is not a corporation, so that loss is devastating to me to say the least," said The Music Stop Owner Allen Haynes.

According to the police report, Haynes attempted to chase the suspect before losing him. He was last seen heading toward the nearby greenway.

Anyone with information can call Murfreesboro Crime Stoppers at (615) 893-STOP (7867). The information could be worth up to a $1,000 reward.
