Investigators: Funeral Home Fire Intentionally Set After Burglary

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A fire at a funeral home in Madison over the weekend was intentionally set following a burglary, according to fire investigators.

Firefighters were called to the Spring Hill Cemetery Funeral Home on Gallatin Road around 2:50 a.m. Sunday. When they got on the scene, they found a small fire in the front room, but sprinklers had extinguished multiple other fires set in other rooms prior to their arrival.

The funeral home suffered minor damage to several office areas.

Investigators believe the fires were set after someone burglarized the business. Several computers were taken, and other items were vandalized, including some American Veteran flags and files.

Evidence was gathered by investigators, and the investigation was ongoing.

Anyone with information on the arson is asked to call Metro Police's Crime Stoppers at (615)74-CRIME or the Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017.
