MNPS Special Education Bus Involved In Crash; No Injuries

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A special education bus from the Metro Nashville Public School system has been involved in a crash on Interstate 40. 

The crash happened around 2 p.m. on westbound I-40 just after the Briley Parkway exit. The center lanes were blocked for about 10 minutes by a Jeep Wrangler that was involved in the wreck.

Video from the Tennessee Department of Safety's SmartWay cameras showed the bus on the shoulder of the interstate.

The number of vehicles involved and exact cause of the crash was not available.

Officials from MNPS confirmed there were students on board at the time of the crash, but emphasized there were no injuries.

Officers from the Metro Nashville Police Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol were on the scene to help traffic move around the vehicles affected.

Information about where the school bus was heading or what school the students attended was not available.

Westbound lanes were blocked for about 10 to 15 minutes.
