NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two men have charged with the robbery and shooting of a man last week in east Nashville.

Police said the victim, 34-year-old William Givens, was sitting in an SUV on N. 7th Street last Thursday when Woodard and Ross approached. Ross allegedly reached inside the SUV and struggled with Givens while trying to rob him. Givens forced his door open, sending Ross to the ground.

Givens told police Ross and Woodard then shot him multiple times.

Givens was driven to General Hospital by a friend and later transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he has undergone several surgeries.

Woodard and Ross were held in lieu of $150,000 bond each.
