Mock Disaster Drill Held For Music City Star

Posted: Updated:

LEBANON, Tenn. - First responders took part in a mock disaster drill with the Music City Star in Lebanon on Thursday morning.

Emergency crews, police officers, and a SWAT team flooded a remote area near Horn Springs Road and Old Horn Springs Road.

Officials said the exercise gives them a chance to evaluate response plans in the event an actual disaster was to strike.

The exercise included a mass casualty incident caused by an improvised explosive device.

"At the last minute we had an IED put on the train and that was something that was added at the last minute. Just another component so that allowed us to bring in the bomb dogs and search those things out and secure the train a little bit further than we planned to do," said Captain Steve Spence with the Lebanon Police Department.

First responders said the location was important, because they wanted to map out how to respond to a rural area that's not accessible by road.
