NASHVILLE, Tenn. - There's just one more day to enjoy the rides, funnel cake and livestock at the Tennessee State Fair.

"We normally go to the Lebanon one, but we didn't make it this time," one fairgoer said. "So this is our first time at the Nashville one. I like it so far."

Depending on who you ask, the future of the fairgrounds is in question.

"A lot of things are out of our control like weather, the (politics)," fair manager Scott Jones said "We can't control any of that. We've got to control what this ten day event looks like."

What they can control is making this year even better and the numbers show it's working.

"The race…that we had this year in the speedway, it was really a home run for us," Jones said. "Also the ‘Taste of Tennessee' which was the first event for us it was a success."

So far, paid attendance has increased five to six percent with one more day to go. New attractions and pleasant weather have attributed to the increase. It's a welcome sign for the fairgrounds faithful, that there's still hope.

"This fair right now is the best time for anybody that's a naysayer to get on board, come out (and) volunteer," Jones said. "Help shape what the Tennessee State Fair is going to look like for future generations."
