Man Arrested In Suspicion Of DUI After Hit And Run Collision

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Tenn. – A man was arrested and suspected of driving under the influence after a hit and run collision Sunday evening.

Officials with the Madison Police Department said Felix Taperia hit a car head on at the intersection of Forest Park and East Old Hickory Boulevard in Madison. The victim told police the suspect reportedly drove away after the crash toward Cheyenne Avenue.

Police later located the vehicle and the suspect. Investigators said Taperia had slurred speech and could barely standup. They said four cans of cold beer were found inside the car, one of which was open.

Taperia was later taken an area hospital for blood alcohol tests where police discovered the identification he provided did not match records.

Police said the suspect could be facing multiple charges, including forgery and leaving the scene of an accident.
