Search For Suspect In Portland Domestic Abuse Case

PORTLAND, Tenn. – Police have asked for help from the public to find a man wanted in connection with a domestic abuse and kidnapping case in Sumner County.

Officers form the Portland Police Department responded to a home just before 4 p.m. Sunday. They found a female victim with bruises on her face and bleeding from her mouth.

The woman told investigators that her boyfriend, Joshua Williams, beat her up after she told him to leave earlier in the day. She also told police about at least two other incidents when Williams choked her until she passed out.

Officials said the woman claimed Williams threatened to kick her teeth in and kill her if she called police.

She was transported to an area hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Police discovered a distillery in the basement of the home, along with three bottles of moonshine. The distillery and bottles were taken to the Portland Fire Department to be destroyed.

Due to the nature of the threats, investigators had Williams' cell phone pinged. It registered at a location in La Vergne. The victim told police Williams frequented the area to buy drugs.

Officers from the La Vergne Police Department were able to locate the vehicle Williams had been driving in a Kroger parking lot. They approached and found no one inside.

Warrants were issued for Williams arrest for charges on four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of aggravated kidnapping, manufacturing of alcoholic beverage, possession of a still and joyriding.

Officials said Williams was also wanted on a warrant out of Davidson County for violation of parole.

Anyone with information about Williams' whereabouts should contact the police.
