NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police recovered human remains in rural Wayne County, which are believed to be those of a 2009 murder victim.

Metro Police Homicide-Cold Case detectives made the discovery on Friday. Investigators said the remains are believed to be those of Michael Wayne Parsley, who was reported missing by his daughter on April 20, 2009.

Detectives said 53-year-old Parsley was likely killed in West Nashville in the days prior to being reported missing and was then buried in a shallow grave in rural Wayne County near the Perry County line.

The Medical Examiner's Office will be working to confirm the remains are those of Michael Parsley. Detectives said they continue to pursue strong and active leads in this case.
