Judge Tracks Down Hit-and-Run Suspect

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A Murfreesboro man may want to think twice about driving away from a traffic accident in the future after the man he hit last week followed him to his house.

Especially since the man he hit is a judge in Rutherford County.

Murfreesboro police said last Thursday, Armando Garcia hit Judge Larry Brandon at Middle Tennessee Boulevard and Bradyville Road, and instead of stopping, he drove away.

The Judge then tailed Garcia to his home, where police met up with him.

This isn't the first time Judge Brandon has taken some proactive steps as a crime victim.  Back in May, he was attacked by a man at a Murfreesboro Hobby lobby, and he fought back.

Judge Brandon said he's never one to start trouble, but he'll deal with it if you're in the wrong.

"If you start trouble and you're not correct I've got to do what's appropriate under the circumstances," said Judge Brandon.  "That means follow you if you hit me from the rear and run off, and fight back if you start a fight."

There was no indication that the hit-and-run driver knew the person he hit was a judge.

Garcia was issued a citation, and not arrested.
