NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been indicted in the murder of Michael Wayne Parsley who went missing in 2009.

46-year-old Paul Lloyd Davis II of Nashville was charged with first-degree murder in the killing of 53-year-old Parsley.

Davis was arrested on Monday after police pulled him over for careless driving and ended up finding pills in the vehicle. Davis admitted he did not have a prescription for those pills.

Davis was still in jail when the Davidson County Grand Jury returned Tuesday's murder indictment.

Metro Police Homicide-Cold Case detectives discovered human remains in rural Wayne County, which are believed to be those of Parsley. His daughter reported him missing on April 20, 2009.

Investigators believe Davis beat Parsley to death in April 2009 in a West Nashville alley. Detectives then think Davis transported the body to Wayne County. Davis and Parsley were reportedly acquaintances.

Davis' bond on the murder charge has been set at $250,000.
