Vandals Causing Dangerous Mess for Transit Customers

Posted: Updated:

Nashville, Tenn. -  The Metro Transit Authority needs your help catching vandals who have caused a lot of damage.

MTA officials say someone is shattering the glass walls on  bus shelters creating a dangerous mess.

A total of 21 glass panels have had to be replaced on 14 shelters due to vandalism. Most of the damage is along Murfreesboro Pike and Gallatin Pike.

The vandals have been striking on between Friday night and early Sunday morning. MTA officials say crews have worked the past two Sundays to clean up the glass and make repairs.

"These reckless and cowardly acts, obviously committed by people who have absolutely no self-respect or respect for the public's property, are so unnecessary. We take these acts of vandalism very seriously and will aggressively pursue criminal charges when the person or persons responsible are arrested," said MTA CEO Paul Ballard.

If you have  witnessed the vandalism you asked to  call Metro Police at 862-8600 or Crime sStoppers at 74-CRIME.
