CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A 49-year-old mystery has now been solved for a mid-state family.

Staff Sergeant Lawrence Woods, a native of Clarksville, went missing in Vietnam after a plane crash in 1964.

The Army found the remains of all the crewmen on board except Woods. It left a Clarksville family without closure until this week, when the army informed Woods' family that they had identified his remains.

The news was a relief to his son Steve Woods who still lives in Clarksville, who has put up a memorial to his dad and other missing soldiers in his front yard.

"I have been waiting for this day to come for many many years, but I never gave up," Woods said.

Steve says his father will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, along side all the other crewmen who died in the plane crash 49 years ago.
