MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - An accused sexual predator is behind bars after Murfreesboro sex crimes detectives turned the tables on him.

"We were able to set a trap for him," said Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Dept.

Detectives arrested 32-year-old Daniel Barrow and charged him with aggravated statutory rape.

The parents of a 14-year-old girl contacted police after finding suggestive texts from Barrow on their daughter's cell phone.  When confronted the girl admitted to having a sexual relationship with Barrow.  She told police she met Barrow at a neighborhood pool.

Police said they used the teen's phone to contact Barrow posing as the girl. They said Barrow then arranged to meet her for sex at his apartment.  But when he answered the door the girl wasn't there.  A detective was waiting and immediately placed Barrow under arrest.

Neighbors were stunned.

"You know it's a surprise. Who is expecting your neighbor to be perverted," said Tommy King, who lived next door.

The case is not yet closed. Detectives said additional charges could be filed.

When contacted at the Rutherford county jail Barrow declined to comment.
