Remains Of Tennessee Vietnam Airman Found

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Gov. Bill Haslam is ordering flags at state buildings to be flown at half-staff to honor an Air Force pilot from Tennessee whose remains were found in Laos.

The Department of Defense said the remains of Maj. Howard V. Andre Jr. of Memphis and Maj. James E. Sizemore of Lawrenceville, Ill., will be returned to their families for burial with full military honors Monday at Arlington National Cemetery.

Sizemore and Andre were on a night reconnaissance mission during the Vietnam War when their A-26A Invader crashed on July 8, 1969, in Xiangkhoang Province, Laos.

Both men's remains were unaccounted for until April. Teams from the United States and Laos excavated the crash site, recovering personal effects and military equipment.

Haslam said flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset Monday.
