Upgrades Coming To Nashville Rescue Mission

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Located in the center of one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in Nashville, the city's largest homeless shelter is making some of its own upgrades.

Donations covered the cost of a complete renovation to the Nashville Rescue Mission Chapel.  It now features new floors, chairs, lighting, monitors and a sound system.

"We're very proud," said Lynn Bogle, Chief Development Officer at Nashville Rescue Mission. "Every time I come in here and look at what it was, and where it is now, I'm so thankful."

Next, the Rescue Mission will be renovating the dining room and kitchen by adding new floors and chairs.  Then, work will expand to the exterior of the building.  In the near future, the parking lot will also be re-done and new landscaping will be added.

All the changes come as the surrounding neighborhood continues to grow.

"I think we are trying to make every possible effort to be the kind of neighbor that anyone would be proud of," said Bogle.

With the addition of the Music City Center and Omni Hotel just blocks away, and more new businesses moving in, the Rescue Mission is choosing to make changes to fit in.

"We have no plans to move," said Bogle. "We need to stay where we are and meet the needs of the men, women and children who come through our doors."

A ribbon cutting for the newly renovated chapel will be held next week.  Bogle said construction on the dining room, kitchen, and parking lot will start in early 2014.
