NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It was a record breaking day of service for the annual Hands On Nashville Day with more than 2,300 volunteers participating, including a crew from NewsChannel 5.

This year marked the 22nd anniversary of the volunteer event. Volunteers donated their time to help landscape, clean and paint at 63 schools throughout Davidson County.

A group from NewsChannel 5, which included those who work on-air and behind the scenes at the station, helped spruce up Fall Hamilton Elementary School.

According to officials, the time volunteers donated made an estimated $203,688 economic impact.

This was also the 12th year the organization partnered with Metro Nashville Public Schools.
