SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Shelbyville man over the weekend.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation charged 46-year-old Ronnie Dewayne Osler with one count of criminal homicide as well as violating his probation. Other charges were pending against him.

He was taken into custody without incident by the TBI and Shelbyville Police at the Imperial Motel in Murfreesboro on Sunday night.

Investigators said 23-year-old Jonathan Cody Minnick was discovered dead by his roommate inside a home on Vandy Avenue in Shelbyville around 2 p.m. Saturday. An autopsy found he died from blunt force trauma to the head, though initial reports said he had been shot.

His 1995 red Chevrolet Suburban was also missing from his residence.

Investigators immediately identified Osler, who had most recently been living at the home on Vandy Avenue, as a suspect.

They believe Osler and Minnick got into an argument and physical altercation at the residence over money.

Osler was booked into the Bedford County Jail without bond. A court date has been scheduled for October 8.
