RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – A 77-year-old Georgia woman was killed after vehicle parts caused a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County on Monday morning.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Anne Hudson of Canton, Georgia, died when a driveshaft from another vehicle crashed through the windshield of the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox in which she was a passenger.

A report from the THP said the driveshaft from a 2008 Dodge Ram dropped off from underneath the vehicle while it was traveling eastbound along I-24 at mile marker 67 around 10:20 a.m. It then struck a 2002 Saturn SL2 in the right front tire area before striking the Equinox, driven by Hudson's 77-year-old husband Leroy.

Anne Hudson was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she later died. No one else was injured.

The driver of the Ram was cited for not having insurance.
