Honeymoon Disaster For Brentwood Couple

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Brentwood couple headed to St. Lucia for their honeymoon are now stranded in Miami along with eight other couples from Middle Tennessee.

"We had a beautiful wedding, we were ready to get on our honeymoon," explained Abby Stephens who married her now husband Eric on Saturday.

The couple boarded a plane from Nashville to Miami on Monday morning, but because of a radar issue at the airport they missed their connecting flight to St. Lucia.

"We landed at 10:40 a.m. Monday morning in Miami and our flight to St. Lucia left at 10:20am with 16 of us (newlyweds) missing from that flight," she said.

Because the issue was weather related, American Airlines said they aren't responsible for paying for the Stephens' accommodations even though they are now forced to pay for a hotel room in Miami while their Sandals vacation in St. Lucia goes to waste.

"Honestly had they (the airline) been just a little bit more compassionate and understanding and had one of them said ‘I'm so sorry for this,' I think it would've been a little easier to take," she explained.

The Stephens said they were finally able to get booked on a flight to St. Lucia Wednesday morning, almost three days later than they were supposed to arrive.
