NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Omni Hotels Nashville has its grand opening set for Monday, Sept. 30 at the corner of Demonbreun Street and 5th Avenue South in the SoBro area.

"Twenty-seven months ago, it seemed like forever. But to see us opening six days from now, we're excited and get ready Nashville, we're her for you," said Tod Roadarmel, the director of marketing and sales for the Omni Nashville.

The hotel will have 800 guest rooms, making it the second largest hotel in the State of Tennessee.

The hotel will employ nearly 700 people and is the headquarters hotel for the Music City Center that opened in May.

The Omni Hotel is filling a void the downtown market is currently experiencing.

"It's critical to get it open, get everything up and running there, and really get geared up to serve Music City Center," according to Tom Turner from the Nashville Downtown Partnership.

Turner said the Omni will add 25% more hotel rooms to the downtown area and is just the start of the new hotels to open.

"The hotels that we have do a great business, and they serve customers well, business and leisure travel both, but we really do need more rooms," Turner said.

Hyatt Place is set to open in the SoBro area this December, and construction has started on a Hilton Gardens at 3rd Avenue and Korean Veterans Boulevard.

Plans have also been announced for two full-service hotels. Developers want to build a Hyatt on Broadway, between 4th and 3rd Avenues, and a Marriott at 7th and Demonbreun Street.

"They have meeting space, they're going to have three meal restaurants, they're going to have spas, but they're also going to have the ability to block off rooms for big conventions, and we really need that," Turner explained.

The new Omni Hotel is the second largest hotel in Tennessee, behind Gaylord Opryland Resort which has nearly 2,900 rooms.
