Smyrna Town Manager Submits Resignation

Posted: Updated:

SMYRNA, Tenn. - Smyrna's town manager is stepping down after more than a decade on the job.

Mark O'Neal submitted his resignation on Tuesday.

He said it's because of "the Council's desire for a ‘fresh set of eyes' in the role of Town Manager."

For the past eleven years, O'Neal supervised the general administration of Smyrna's departmental operations and employees.

He has agreed to continue his role until his successor is named.

O'Neal's resignation comes less than a month after Tony Dover resigned from his post as Mayor.
