NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Willie Nelson will perform at the Southern Ground Music and Food Festival in Nashville, despite a shoulder injury that originally forced him to cancel his performance.

The country music star's publicist said Wednesday that the 80-year-old was under a doctor's orders to rest his shoulder for a week.

He had already pulled out of shows in Carmel, Indiana, Charlotte, Michigan, Springfield, Illinois, and Saturday's appearance at the festival hosted by Zac Brown in Nashville, Tennessee.

Festival organizers said they were informed Nelson has recovered enough from the injury that he will still perform in Music City Friday night.

He was even expected to bring a friend from the music industry, but officials wouldn't say who.

Information about how Nelson injured his shoulder was now available.

Nelson was expected to be on the road again in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 15, the same day he releases his new duets album, "To All the Girls."
