One Killed When Vehicle Collides With Train In Antioch

Posted: Updated:

ANTIOCH, Tenn. – One person has been killed after a car collided with a train and burst into flames in Davidson County.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday near a road crossing at 5135 Hickory Hollow Parkway in Antioch. There were reports of a person possibly trapped inside.

It was unclear if the fire started after the initial crash or at some point when the vehicle was being dragged along the tracks.

Officials were having a hard time accessing the scene. The train dragged the car to a spot about 3/4ths of a mile away from Antioch Pike.

Crews from the Nashville Fire Department and Metro Nashville Police Department were on the scene. At least one ambulance responded to the scene.

Details about the cause of the crash were not available. Officials were unable to determine the make and model of the car because of the damage done in the fire. They did say it was a four-door vehicle, but had little other information.

Investigators said at least one person was killed, but they were unable to determine if there was anyone else in the vehicle.

Traffic was moving in both directions on Antioch Pike, but officers were directing cars through the area.

The roadway along Hickory Hollow Parkway was blocked with the train in the intersection.
