90-Day Waiting List At Davidson County DMV

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Davidson County Department of Motor Vehicles has at least a 90-day waiting period for drivers wanting to take a road test.

The road test has been the longest wait for drivers at the Davidon County DMV. Officials said it could be as long as three months before a driver can schedule a road test.

Drivers at waiting at the DMV located on Hart Lane in Nashville were frustrated with the long lines.

Susan Carson recently moved to Nashville from Washington State. She said she was shocked by the two hour wait time.

"When I came in and couldn't find parking, I thought, ‘oh dear,' "said Carson. "Then when I walked in and saw the lobby, I thought, ‘oh my.'"

In addition to the lengthy waiting time, other drivers found themselves facing other obstacles.

"It's crazy, because kids don't have a high tolerance of just sit down and wait," said Heather Williams who was waiting with her small children. "They are impatient they just want to get up and play."

Officials said the long wait times have been the result of a busy summer.

They recommended that drivers take the test in another county, if they wanted to schedule an appointment before Christmas.
