Lanes Of I-24 Blocked In Rutherford Co. After Crash

SMYRNA, Tenn. – The center lanes of Interstate 24 have been blocked due to a vehicle crash in Rutherford County.

The crash was reported at 9:10 p.m. Friday at mile marker 64 near Smyrna.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said one vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-24 when the vehicle's left tire blew out causing it to crash into the diving wall. After hitting the dividing wall, the car came to rest in the center of I-24, blocking the interstate.

Eastbound traffic has been affected with only one lane open.

Officials said the interstate was expected to be cleared by 10:50 p.m. Friday.

Additional details of the crash were not immediately known.
