14-Year-Old Accused Of Shooting At Homeowner During Attempted Burglary

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A 14-year-old was taken into custody after police said he shot a homeowner during an attempted burglary.

The victim told police he heard a noise downstairs at his home in the 3400 block of Anderson just before noon Monday.

He found an open window, and saw two teens running from his home. One of them, later identified as the 14-year-old, turned and fire a shot at the victim, but he was not struck.

A citizen reported seeing the teens run into a nearby apartment. Officers flooded the area and saw the 14-year-old jump out of a window.

The teen was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. A handgun was recovered from inside the apartment.

The homeowner positively identified the 14-year-old as the shooter. The other teen, age 13, was taken into custody and admitted his involvement in the attempted burglary.

The 14-year-old was charged in Juvenile Court with aggravated assault, attempted aggravated burglary, unlawful handgun possession and loitering during school hours. The 13-year-old was charged in Juvenile Court with attempted aggravated burglary, marijuana possession and loitering during school hours.
