Hank Williams Jr. To Headline Nashville NYE Celebration

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country singer-songwriter Hank Williams Jr. will headline the fifth annual Music City New Year's Eve "Bash on Broadway" in downtown Nashville this year.

Williams said he hopes "Music City is ready to boogie woogie, because Bocephus is going bring the party to Nashville."

"This year is going to be very special on New Year's Eve," said Williams Jr. in a statement. "December 31st will mark the 60th anniversary of daddy's death. For years, I have not performed on New Year's Eve in honor of my father, but this year is a monumental year in the history of Hank Williams. If daddy would have lived, he would have been 90 years old this year.

Additional artist announcements will be forthcoming.

The Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau said 50,000 people watched the note drop downtown on New Year's Eve 2012, even despite the pouring rain. The bureau said that translated to about $10 million in direct visitor spending.
