New Technology Hopes To Ease Brentwood Traffic

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Travelers of one of the busiest roads in Williamson County hoped new technology would ease their commute time.

Concord Road in Williamson County has been one of the busiest roads in Brentwood, with nearly 35,000 vehicles traveling down it every day. New traffic cameras have been installed to alleviate some of the congestion during rush hour.

"It's not as easy just to add a lane or poor more asphalt so we have to use these tools here to help," said Robbie Allen, who oversees traffic coordination for the City of Brentwood.

The city recently installed new traffic cameras along Concord Road. Allen has sat in a room filled with monitors and computers trying to find the best pattern for traffic signals to keep cars moving.

"In the morning's everybody is trying to do the same thing and get to work," said Allen. "We just want to find the medium where everyone is happy."

Eventually, Allen would not have to spend every morning monitoring the new traffic lights.

Officials with the City of Brentwood have been looking to coordinate traffic patterns in order to set the timers on the new lights.
