Identities Released For 7 Of 8 Victims In East Tennessee Crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Seven of the eight victims killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in East Tennessee have been identified.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said eight people were killed Wednesday on I-40 in Jefferson County after a charter bus carrying a group of seniors from a North Carolina Church crossed the interstate median and struck an SUV and an oncoming tractor trailer.

The victims on the bus were identified as 95-year-old Cloyce Matheny, 69-year-old Brenda Smith, 62-year-old Marsha Mclelland, 66-year-old Barbara Morrison, 66-year-old Randy Morrison, and 73-year-old John Wright.

Officials said 24-year-old Trent Roberts was also killed when the bus clipped the SUV carrying him and two others.

The driver of the tractor trailer has not yet been identified.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
