NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Michael German threw for 202 yards and two scores as Tennessee State ran away with a 40-16 Ohio Valley Conference win over Southeast Missouri Saturday night.

The Tigers (5-1, 2-0 OVC) took a 16-9 edge at halftime after German hit Weldon Garlington for a 16-yard touchdown. They jumped ahead in the third quarter as Tim Broughton had a 4-yard score on 4th-and-1 and German threw a 75-yard strike to Ryan Mitchell.

The Redhawks (0-5, 0-2) led momentarily in the second when Cantrell Andrews returned a fumble 68 yards for a score. A fumbled snap on the extra-point attempt was returned by Tennessee State's Antonio Harper for a defensive two-point conversion to tie it up 9-9.

Mitchell had 122 yards receiving for the Tigers.

Telvin Hooks rushed for 159 yards and a score.

Southeast Missouri's Lewis Washington broke loose for a 99-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, tying an NCAA record.
