NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The puck dropped for the first Nashville Predators home game, but construction on Bridgestone Arena hasn't stopped.

The Preds' season is now in full swing and so are $20 million in upgrades to the team's home.

A new entrance at 5th and Demonbreun is supposed to open Bridgestone Arena up to the developing SoBro area.

That project should wrap up in January.

"If you look across the street Music City Center is beautiful, the Omni Hotel, the expansion to the Country Music Hall of Fame, all of these new businesses that are coming into the SoBro area," said Predators Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Chris Parker. "But the other part is the facility is 15-plus years-old."

Part of the $20 million being spent on upgrades is to fix parts of the building that have worn out from 15 years of use, like a new HVAC system and carpet on the upper levels.

A new year-round team store should wrap up this spring near the front entrance.
