NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested after police said he stabbed a friend in the stomach during an altercation and then going on the run with his two kids.

The victim and his wife told police that 35-year-old James W. McClain became drunk while visiting their home on Oak Valley Drive with his two young children on Tuesday night. Around 10:30 p.m., they asked him to leave, but he refused. The victim then had to physically remove the man from his home.

Once they got outside, police said McClain stabbed the victim at least twice in the stomach.

McClain got into his vehicle, and fled the scene with his children before police arrived.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

McClain was later taken into custody, and charged with attempted criminal homicide. His bond was set at $10,000.
